General description of the School
The School of Technology and Management of Bragança (ESTiG), created in 1990, develops its training and research / development mission in the areas of engineering and business sciences.For the pursuit of its objectives, ESTiG has facilities on the Santa Apolónia Campus; with a global area of 14000m2, the ESTiG building comprises 112 teaching offices, 1 auditorium, 2 amphitheaters, 25 classrooms, 5 computer rooms, 1 library and 20 laboratories, which occupy a global area of more than 3000m2, in addition to social areas and technical / administrative support.
With 97 full-time professors (of whom 85 are PhDs), 86 part-time professors (external collaborators who maintain a professional activity outside the School) and 31 technical / administrative staff (of whom 17 have higher education), ESTiG has been to become one of the largest Schools of Technology and Management in the country.
In the academic year 2019/2020, ESTiG has about 2977 students from all over the country, from Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia, distributed by:
- 11 professional higher technical courses (CTeSP): Chemical and Biological Analysis; Quality and Treatment of Water and Effluents; Automation, Robotics and Industrial Electronics; Accounting; Software development; Cybersecurity; Renewable Energies and Electric and Telecommunications Infrastructures; Operations and Logistics Management; Construction; Mineral and Geotechnical Prospecting; Mechanical Technology and Vehicles.
- 12 degrees (1st cycle Bologna): Accounting; Biomedical Engineering / Technology; Civil Engineering; Renewable Energy Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering; Computer Science and engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Chemical engineering; Management; International Business Management; Management Informatics; Technology and Industrial Management.
- 10 masters (2nd cycle Bologna): Accounting and Finance; Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency; Construction Engineering; Industrial engineering; Chemical engineering; Organizational Management; Computing; Biomedical Technology; Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Product and Process Innovation.
The quality of the education given has determined a growing affirmation among employers, which translates into the professional success of the more than 7597 graduates that ESTiG has already placed in the world of work since 1994.
As a result of the bet on advanced training of its faculty (currently 85% of the professors are PhDs), ESTiG has, in parallel with its teaching activities, intensified its scientific activity and high level development; most of its doctoral professors are integrated in FCT research centers, with a new Research Center for Digitization and Intelligent Robotics at the School (CeDRI- http://cedri.ipb.pt/) and a Laboratory of the Mountain Research Center (CIMO - https://cimo.ipb.pt/) ESTiG is currently involved in numerous research projects, in national and international partnerships, also providing high-level services to public and private entities, within the scope of various collaboration protocols.
