Profile of the programme
The specialisation course in Health and Wellness, included in the postgraduation in Health and Wellness: Circular and Sustainable Water Design within the "PRR - BLUE DESIGN ALLIANCE" project (https://www.bluedesignalliance.pt), aims, in a blue economy context, to value water as an endogenous resource. A resource that contributes to the promotion of health and well-being of local populations and visitors while developing skills that generate value in the progress and creation of jobs directly linked to "blue" professions or related economic activities. In a context of social and environmental sustainability, through co-creation processes and inclusive and participatory design, the research, training and dissemination of knowledge - that links water to health and well-being - is fundamental as an axis promoting the development of territories, the quality of life and the valorisation of an efficient use of water.It is taught at the Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Bem-Estar do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (EHB.IPB). The curricular units are complemented with visits to companies, organisations, research centres and laboratories that stimulate learning in a practical and professional context.
The total number of credits to obtain the postgraduate diploma is 45 ECTS, distributed as follows:
a) 5 ECTS in the curricular unit of Design Thinking, Creativity and Innovation;
b) 30 ECTS in short courses that make up each subarea in a given macro area;
c) 10 ECTS of Final Project.
The number of ECTS credits required to obtain the postgraduate diploma is materialized in 30 weeks of study. For the definition of the post-graduate workload, 27 total hours of study are considered for each ECTS credit and 8 contact hours for each ECTS credit. ---

The training is aimed at: (1) professionals from public and private organisations who have water as a product of excellence in their recreational and commercial offer and seek to improve their competencies or acquire new skills; (2) students seeking to deepen their knowledge in the context of thermalism and spa, from a touristic or therapeutic perspective.The postgraduate course in Health and Wellness: Circular and Sustainable Water Design aims to confer skills in the application of advanced methods and techniques of therapy and rehabilitation - with the use of water - while enabling students to develop experiences (products and services) that attract tourists in search of quality of life and promotion of their health and well-being. In addition to the specific competencies of each curricular module, the student can broaden their professional development opportunities and foster characteristics such as autonomy, creativity and entrepreneurial attitude combined with a strong awareness of innovation and co-creation with local and regional economic and social actors.

The following may apply for enrolment in the postgraduate course:a) Holders of a degree of undergraduate or higher or legal equivalent or professionals whose training is related to the course or who meet legal requirements for access and are recognised three years of professional experience related to the course;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies or higher, organised according to the principles of the Bologna Process.
