the management of their genetic resources, soil and water, and in the efficient use of external inputs. The program profile is fulfilled with disciplines that provide the main concepts of statistics and experimental design. Agroecology: Animal and Agricultural Productions, Earth Sciences.

Key learning outcomes
The degree of "mestre" (master) in Agroecology, is awarded to those students that demonstrate, in this field, the ability to:
a) develop and enhance the knowledge obtained in the first cycle, in order to develop and apply that knowledge to original situations often in the context of research;
b) apply their knowledge and understanding and problem solving capacities to new and unfamiliar situations in wide multidisciplinary situations, although related to their area of studies;
c) integrate knowledge, deal with complex matters, develop solutions or put forward opinions on situations of limited or incomplete information, including reflecting upon the implications and ethical and social responsibilities that result from both those solutions and opinions or indeed that condition them;
d) communicate their conclusions and the knowledge and reasoning that underlay them, both to experts and non-experts, clearly and unambiguously;
e) develop competences that will enable them to benefit from self-oriented or autonomous lifelong learning.

To complete the qualification, the student is required to pass all compulsory course units of the study plan.

Occupational profiles of graduates
The degree of "mestre" (master) in Agroecology belongs to the education and training area of Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources. Graduates are able to understand, describe and intervene in the production systems,regardless of their complexity. They feel comfortable when they need to engage in intensive cropping systems, where is imperative a good management of production factors which may potentially have large
environmental impacts, as well as in more extensive systems in the use of external factors such as organic farming. They are able to develop a holistic view of agroecosystems without, however, be inhibited face to

Graduation requirements
Students with a degree in Agronomy Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agrarian Engineering, Agro-Livestock Engineering, Agro-industrial Engineering, Biology and other equivalent degrees considered by the Scientific Committee of the master's degree will be admitted as suitable for the course frequency. Candidates may be admitted who, without having obtained this classification, present a relevant curriculum in the Master area.
They will also be admitted students who meet the requirements of point d) of Article 17 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006 of March 24, whose area of formation will be considered by the Scientific Committee of the master's degree as appropriate to the course attendance.
