Counseling and Information on Pharmacy

Postgraduate Specialization in Counseling and Information in Pharmacy.

Professional qualification.

Admission requirements
Holders of a bachelor degree or equivalent in Pharmacy;
Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies in Pharmacy, organized according to the Bologna model for an adherent State to this process;
Holders of a foreign academic bachelor degree that is recognized as suitable to the objectives of a bachelor degree in Pharmacy by the Scientific Council in each school;
Holders of an academic, scientific and / or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the ability to attend the course, by the Technical and Scientific Council in each school.


Recognition of prior learning
Following the implementation of the Bologna Process and the consequent legislation regarding the mobility of students among degrees and higher education institutions, prior learning must be recognized and credited. The prior learning concept comprises all the previous learning/training undertaken in other higher education study cycles in national or international institutions (crediting of certified training), as well as previous professional experience and any post-secondary school training or education. As such, the IPB promotes the crediting of the student’s prior learning when arriving at the institution.
Aiming at a quick and full integration of the student in his/her new education programme, the recognition procedures must be submitted when enrolling at the IPB.

Qualification requirements and regulations
60 ECTS. 2 semesters (1 year). 20 weeks of study per semester (40 per year). 60 ECTS credits (30 per semester); 1 credit corresponds to 27 hours.
The holders of this course are allowed to develop an expertise Professional activity.

Profile of the programme
The profile of the programme comprises the development of the technical-scientific knowledge and professional skills in the study areas of Pharmacy, Biomathematics, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Human and Social Sciences and Management and Administration in Health. Pharmacy, Biomathematics, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Human and Social Sciences and Management and Administration in Health.

Key learning outcomes
The course in Counseling and Information in Pharmacy must:
a) Offer / ensure Care in Pharmacy and information about the proper use of medicines and health products in general at a specialized level, autonomy and superior complexity;
b) Enable to the problem resolution, inovation, management and coordination, as well as to a better autonomy in research.


Occupational profiles of graduates
The Postgraduate Specialization in Counseling and Information in Pharmacy belongs to the education and training area of Health Sciences and Social Protection. Graduates are specialized to develop a professional activity within the profile of the programme.

Access to further studies
The course allows the students to continue to the 2nd and 3rd cycles according to the diagram of Portuguese Higher Education System.
