Professional Master in Applied Digitalization. Master Degree.

Level of qualification
2nd Cycle of Studies. EQF level 7. ISCED 2011 level 7.

Admission requirements
The professional master's degree in Applied Digitalization is aimed at promoting lifelong learning, meaning that only students with a minimum previous professional experience of five years in the predominant scientific area of the study cycle, duly proven, can be
admitted. Additionally, candidates must have:
a) Bachelor’s degree or legal equivalent;
b) Foreign higher academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by an acceding State;
c) Foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree by the competent body of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted;
d) Academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the competent body of the higher education institution where you intend to be admitted.


Recognition of prior learning
Following the implementation of the Bologna Process and the consequent legislation regarding the mobility of students among degrees and higher education institutions, prior learning must be recognized and credited. The prior learning concept comprises all the previous learning/training undertaken in other higher education study cycles in national or international institutions (crediting of certified training), as well as previous professional experience and any post-secondary school training or education. As such, the IPB promotes the crediting of the student’s prior learning when arriving at the institution.
Aiming at a quick and full integration of the student in his/her new education programme, the recognition procedures must be submitted when enrolling at the IPB.

Qualification requirements and regulations
2 curricular semesters (1 year). 20 weeks of study, per semester, full-time (40 per year). 40 hours per week. 810 hours per semester (1620 per year). 60 ECTS credits (30 per semester), corresponding 1 credit to 27 hours. Includes a project work developed entirely in the workplace or an internship with a final report, corresponding to 30 credits.
The holders of this qualification are entitled to apply for positions in the public administration and local government senior official career and for senior positions in enterprises.

Profile of the programme
The profile of the programme comprises the development of the technical-scientific knowledge and professional specialized skills in the study areas of Technology in the fields of electronics, automation, and informatics.

Key learning outcomes
The degree of "mestre" (master) in Applied Digitalization is awarded to those students that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deal with complex matters and develop solutions, in wide multidisciplinary situations, in the areas of electronics, automation and IT, combined with skills in leadership, social sciences and behavior. These professionals must also develop skills in:
a) organization, autonomy, proactivity, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, emotional intelligence, leadership, strategy, ethics, communication;
b) critical thinking, creativity, capacity for innovation, disruption, behavior analysis, signs and anticipation of the future;
c) understanding and reflection on sustainability challenges, opportunities for implementation in the professional framework;
d) understanding and reflection on the challenges of digitalization, opportunities for implementation in the professional framework.

Occupational profiles of graduates
The Master's in Applied Digitalization aims to train professionals, with skills in the fields of electronics, automation and informatics.
Strongly aimed at students, who, as professionals from employers in the region, will position companies and organizations with better skills regarding the evolution of knowledge in the areas of technology, engineering, and social and behavioral sciences in their broader scope for the future. This master's degree aims to requalify and update the skills of professionals who, putting themselves at the service of employers, will be able to generate opportunities for connections between the various sectoral areas, promoting intraentrepreneurship, constant adaptation to technological and organizational changes imposed by the challenges of digitalization , thus becoming assets with the potential to increase the activity of companies and organizations in the region even in the most competitive environments.

Access to further studies
The degree of "mestre" allows to proceed to 3rd cycle studies, according to the diagram of the Portuguese Higher Education System, provided by NARIC (http://www.dges.mctes.pt/DGES/pt/Reconhecimento/NARICENIC/) and presented in section 8 of the Diploma Supplement.
