Professional qualification.

Admission requirements
Holders of a bachelor degree or equivalent in Nursing Management;
Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies, organized according to the Bologna model for an adherent State to this process;
Holders of a foreign academic bachelor degree that is recognized as suitable to the objectives of a bachelor degree in Nursing Management by the Scientific Council in each school;
Holders of an academic, scientific and / or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the ability to attend the course, by the Technical and Scientific Council in each school.

Recognition of prior learning
Following the implementation of the Bologna Process and the consequent legislation regarding the mobility of students among degrees and higher education institutions, prior learning must be recognized and credited. The prior learning concept comprises all the previous learning/training undertaken in other higher education study cycles in national or international institutions (crediting of certified training), as well as previous professional experience and any post-secondary school training or education. As such, the IPB promotes the crediting of the student’s prior learning when arriving at the institution.
Aiming at a quick and full integration of the student in his/her new education programme, the recognition procedures must be submitted when enrolling at the IPB.

Qualification requirements and regulations
30 ECTS. 1 semester. 18 weeks of study per semester. 1 credit corresponds to 27 hours.
The holders of this course are allowed to develop an expertise Professional activity.

Profile of the programme
O Curso de Pós-Graduação em Gestão em Enfermagem pretende fornecer bases teóricas que permitam a aquisição de competências, conhecimentos, aptidões, atitudes e comportamentos na área da gestão em enfermagem, constituindo uma ferramenta necessária e indispensável a uma gestão eficiente dos recursos e à prestação de cuidados de enfermagem de qualidade. ---


Key learning outcomes
The degree of "mestre" (master) in Nursing in Family Health is awarded to those students that demonstrate, in this field, the ability to:
a) To contribute to the formation of a professional able to develop skills in the challenges faced by families, resulting in specialized care needs in nursing, the issues of health and demographic, social and
epidemiological change;
b) To enhance knowledge and intervention methodologies in Family Nursing;
c) To train for critical thinking within the family care throughout the life cycle;
d) To enable the development of scientific research aiming qualified answers to the specificities of people subject of care and also the health professionals work contexts;
e) To enhance the development of a collaborative professional able to adapt to the characteristics and emerging challenges, complex and unpredictable contexts of health.

Occupational profiles of graduates
The formation in nursing management belongs to the education and training area of Health Sciences and Social Protection. Graduates are specialized to develop a professional activity within the profile of the programme. This area constitutes currently an intervention area of the utmost strategic importance and essential face to ensure the quality of health services.

Access to further studies
The course allows the students to continue to the 2nd and 3rd cycles according to the diagram of Portuguese Higher Education System.
